Our Work

At Child Labour Free Communities (CLFC), our work is dedicated to eradicating child labour through a multi-faceted approach that combines prevention, enforcement, rehabilitation, policy reform through system shifts, and promoting clean supply chains. We collaborate with communities, businesses, and institutions to create lasting change, ensuring that every child enjoys their right to education, safety, and a dignified life.

Businesses For Child Rights

Building Profits with Purpose, Safeguarding Children’s Rights

At CLFC, we work with businesses to ensure they are committed to upholding children’s rights and eradicating child labour. We raise awareness about the importance of child protection and promote ethical business practices that prevent child labour and support children’s education and well-being. Through partnerships, we encourage companies to create child labour-free supply chains and contribute to safe communities for children to thrive.

Currently we are:-

  • Promoting Child Labour-Free Supply Chains
  • Getting endorsements from trade unions and market associations to prohibit the use of child labour
  • Advocating for Ethical Business Practices

Protecting Children’s Rights in Court

A Fair System for All Ages, Protecting Children’s Rights in Court

Child labour and child trafficking survivors encounter numerous challenges within the judicial system. From providing statements to undergoing trials and testimonies, they are often forced to relive their traumatic experiences to prove their victimization. Many face indifferent attitudes from public prosecutors who are supposed to represent them and defense lawyers often use harsh language towards them. Despite court provisions for support persons, counsellors, and translators, these essential services are often inaccessible.

Community Outreach

Reduce Vulnerability, Empowering Voices,- Transforming Lives

We work with communities to build a commitment to holistic child development. This begins with early childhood education, ensuring access to quality schooling from pre-school through 12th grade, and the community collectively agreeing to strictly saying “NO CHILD LABOUR IN OUR COMMUNITY.” CLFC’s core aspects of community outreach include engaging with local stakeholders, collaborating effectively, empowering community members, and ultimately co-creating sustainable solutions that are truly owned by the community.

Community-Based Rehabilitation Programs

Community Safety Nets, Rebuilding and Restoring Lives

Rehabilitation involves more than just reintegrating child survivors with their families and communities – it’s about restoring their childhood. We focus on meeting the physical, emotional, and social needs of children rescued from labour, trafficking, or exploitation. Our comprehensive support includes access to education, vocational training, legal protection and assistance, compensation benefits, and psychosocial care through regular follow ups and home visits. This empowers them to overcome the trauma of their past and gain the education and skills to pursue their dreams and lead a life of dignity.

Education of Children

Education to grow, lead and succeed

Education is not only the key to the well-rounded development of children, it also safeguards children from prevalent forms of child rights violations including child labour, child trafficking, child abuse, child marriage and child beggary. Because most children trafficked for labour are out of school, tracking and supporting children for their continuous education is our foremost priority. By following the National Education Policy and supporting NIPUN Bharat, we ensure every child has access to quality education and basic skills in reading and mathematics.

We also aim to promote child leadership by setting up Children’s Parliaments in schools, allowing children to have a voice and develop important leadership skills. Our goal is to create a supportive learning environment where every child can grow, lead, and succeed.

System Strengthening

Strengthening Systems, Transforming Futures

We work to strengthen the judicial system to ensure child survivor

rights are respected and they get access to justice. Through handling individual cases, we have comprehensively surveyed and identified the implementation and policy gaps in the system and designed interventions to systematically fill these gaps. We take targeted actions include gathering strong evidence for cases; engaging key decision-makers;  building the capacity of stakeholders in the court system, like prosecutors; improving interstate coordination between source and destination areas for trafficking; introducing child-friendly judicial practices; and equipping district-level bodies and committees with essential information and knowledge.

Youth Participation in Local Governance

Empowering Youth, Shaping Stronger Communities

Our youth groups work with local governance and communities to help them become more resilient, increasing the health, educational and social security of children in our community, and constructing a more inclusive and equitable society for all by ensuring that child trafficking for work is stopped and all children complete their formal education up to the 12th standard.
